Congrats to Gardaí for €1.2m heroin seizure in Tallaght - Curran
Minister of State with responsibility for the National Drugs Strategy, John Curran T.D. has congratulated Dublin Gardaí who seized heroin with an estimated street value of €1.2m last night in Tallaght, West Dublin.The search was part of the ongoing Operation Creeper, which is targeting burglaries and serious crime in Dublin.
Following the seizure Minister Curran said: “In recent years significant additional resources have been made available to address the drugs issue at national and local levels by An Garda Síochána and this is to be welcomed. Every week the Gardaí are making significant impacts into criminal activity that involves drug trafficking and serious gangland crimes.
The new National Drugs Strategy that was launched recently, which gives commitment to continued focus on co-operation between my department, An Garda Síochana and local communities under a new and improved strategy. This will build on the successes achieved to date.”
“As Minister with responsibility for the National Drugs Strategy, I will continue to work on an agreed crime prevention strategy between Government Departments, Government agencies, voluntary organisations, community organisations and community representatives. Two men, aged 22 and 38, were arrested following a search of two houses in the Kilclare Estate in Tallaght last night. They are being detained at Tallaght Garda Station under Section 2 of the Drug Trafficking Act.
