Funding available for small-scale capital projects for Clondalkin Drugs Task Force -Curran

Funding of €600,000 has been made available for small-scale capital projects in Local and Regional Drug Task Forces and Clondalkin’s Task Force is set to benefit by receiving funding of €25,000; according to Government Chief Whip and local Fianna Fáil T.D. John Curran.

Welcoming this round of funding Minister Curran said: “This funding will assist Clondalkin Local Drugs Task Force carry out important small-scale capital works that will help improve facilities for those working in our communities to combat problem drug use.

“The €600,000, which is provided under the Capital Premises Fund 2010, will be used for Task Force voluntary and community based projects. The purpose of the Capital Premises Fund is to meet identified emerging ‘once off’ capital needs in existing Local and Regional Task Force areas to cater for drug specific Task Force projects. A total of €25,000 is being made available to each Task Force (14 Local Drugs Task Forces and 10 Regional Drugs Task Forces). The funding is in respect of small refurbishment works and/or the purchase of equipment, which have a significant benefit and impact at community level.

“These grants will focus on premises where voluntary and community-based drugs services are being delivered for drug users, former drugs users, recovering drug users and their families.  I am confident that the funding will make a tangible difference to those working to combat problem drug use and those availing of the services,” concluded Minister Curran.
